Cobolt 60: The grim defiance
24/06/13 || Cobal
I got this record through mail and again decided to give it a shot almost randomly. Cobolt 60 are proud of their cold and furious fusion of black and thrash metal and “The Grim Defiance” is their second full-length work. Me, this is definitely not my favourite kind of music, but I’ll give them this: These guys know what they are doing. Switching from thrashing fast agressive riffage to deepfrozen atmospheric guitar work, these Norwegians manage to keep the effect along 37 minutes. My problem with it lies precisely there. It’s the same effect that endures the whole record. I suppose that if you like your black thrashy, this might be your thing. No my case, though.
7/10: It’s got its hooks, that’s for sure.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
